Craving French Music?

To my surprise, it's been quite a challenge to find new French music. Most of the music played on the radio, in commercials, in stores, in bars, and in clubs is American. I've also heard bizarre excerpts of American culture on reality TV shows: "L'amour est dans le pré," for example, uses the theme song from "Forrest Gump" during all the romantic segments. #what?

This past Saturday, however, was a real gamechanger: I watched the "NRJ Music Awards" with my host mom, Josette! The show featured all the hottest music in France today, including "international" (aka American) artists as well. To find out who won, check out the website- click on "Remises des Prix": http://nrjmusicawards.nrj.fr/

Thanks to the awards show, some of my new favorites include:

À nos actes manqués- M. Pokora
J'aimerais trop- Keen 'V
Prince charmant- Keen 'V
Jet Lag- Simple Plan (feat. Marie-Mai)
C'est une belle journée- Myléne Farmer
Mon ange- Nolwenn Leroy

Bonnes écoutes!
