Arles Schmarles

Ils sont partout!

Recognize this cafe?

How about now??

HOW ABOUT NOW. Yes, we got to see Van Gogh's 'Restaurant/Cafe' in person! The cafe is now, of course, named for him.

Another grand figure of Provence:

Frédéric Mistral! More to come on him...

Hôtel de Ville et l'obélisque

REGARDEZ! We read the story of Mr. Seguin's Goat ('La Chevre de M. Seguin') by Alphonse Daudet in one of my courses...Daudet was a HUGE fan of Mistral and Provence

And there he is: the man of the hour!

Another work by Daudet- quite a sad story, actually. This boutique is obviously not respecting the sobriety. The term "Arlesienne," besides meaning a person from Arles, also refers to someone who is invoked but never seen; a mysterious character.

Les calissons! Miam= yum!

SO French!
