Best of Italy: Milan!

Over my winter break, I traveled with two friends to Milan (1 day), Florence (2 days) and Rome (4 days). Seeing as I took over 500 pictures, 200 of which were probably of the Vatican alone (oops), I'll reserve these posts for my favorite moments. You're welcome. To see all 500 pictures (haha) check out my absurdly large album on facebook. :)

Milan:
Duomo in Milan! 3rd largest cathedral in Europe!

Entrance to the Galleria

Inside the Duomo- y camera can't quite capture how breathtaking this was: the vitraux tinted the light with gorgeous blues and purples. We even visited the crypte of an Italian cardinal!

We happened to visit for the festival of clowns- lucky us! SO many children dressed as superheros, princesses, and even Marie-Antoinette! You could practically breathe the confetti from the air, and statues everywhere were defaced with silly string! Everyone was shouting, running, laughing- even the parents. We all were children for the day.

Sforza chateau! (Castello Sforzesco)

Parco Sempione! Bella! We also visited the Giardini Pubblici. J'aime trop les parcs...

Porta- Garibaldi Gate

Cuddling in the hostel beds. The first night we had Spanish and Italian roommates (who conveniently decided to have a dance party at 7 am), and the second night we were with some French girls!

Other noteworthy events: perusing the outdoor market, visiting the Civic Arena, getting flour dumped on us in the metro station and then karaoke party on the train, washing my shirt in the sink with shower gel and drying it on the hostel balcony (stylez),and a real shower for the first time in Europe! Oh, the simple things of life!
